Common anti aging cream ingredients
February 11th, 2011anti aging products – anti aging cream
As a young adult, I was already exposed to different anti aging creams. It started 2 years ago when an advertisement on TV promised a “better, younger looking skin in 2 weeks”. My mother would always ask me to find the latest one in high-end groceries and drug stores. She would even ask me to differentiate all of the products, which is more effective and which is much better to buy in terms of its price (well, almost all of them is pricey though). And so as a supporting daughter, I would research the main ingredients in these anti aging crème and try to explain to her the differences and also the efficacy of the said ingredient.
Through those years, I have noticed that almost all of these anti aging creams have common main ingredients according to its label. Maybe it’s the way it is advertised, origin of the main ingredient, or the commercial model hired that makes its price different. Here are the common main ingredients of anti aging crèmes I’ve studied:
- Antioxidants – By-products (or oxidants) produced in the process of oxidation can harm healthy cells in our bodies. Products that have high contents of this can reduce the damage and also repair the ones that has been harmed.
- Tretinoin – Is the liquid/acid form of Vitamin A that is used to treat acne problems but recent clinical studies proved that it increases cell production if applied.
- HGH – Human growth hormones.
- Sunscreens / SPF – Protects the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. The higher the SPF, the better.
- Plant extracts – Special herbal products that contain rare extracts from plants around the world.
- Collagen extracts – Is a kind of protein found in animals, and if applied, can make your skin moist, tight and supple because of its skin renewal abilities.
I think the more “holistic” or “organic” an ingredient is in an anti aging crème, the better the results. Putting too much chemicals on your skin may make you look younger now but in long term application, could already harm your skin. As most people say, it’s much healthier to go all natural whether it’s the food that we eat, beverage that we drink and even skin products that we apply into our delicate skin. Of course, this would include the anti aging crème that you have chosen.
What I’ve told my mother is to always choose the one with the highest content of natural ingredients. I even recommend that she goes to the source directly but time limits us to do these kinds of things.
